Fairmilehead Phase 2 – Contact Centre Relocation - Edinburgh

How we helped

Appointed principal contractor in November 2016 our task was to undertake the full building refurbishment of Scottish Waters Main Head Office in Fairmilehead Edinburgh.

Phase 2 of our prestigious (8 Phase) Refurbishment project for Scottish Waters Main Head office in Edinburgh. R&A met another key milestone in the delivery and relocation of the FMH Office refurbishment project with the successful upgrade and relocation of SW’s 24/7 Contact Centre at the end of August 2017

This phase of the project required working in very close partnership with all the relevant stakeholders involved in the works including the Property Management Capital Projects Team.

The move of this business critical facility into space fully upgraded to meet the needs of Scottish Waters people dealing with round the clock enquiries from their customers took place in a seamless transition with no disruption to service.

The new location for the Contact Centre is on the north wing and includes 90 desks, project space, a new training and backup (secure ICC) room, canteen, meeting room, muster area, breakout areas, toilets and a fully agile working environment. The extended seating capacity allows for ramping up and down during incidents.

The modern design has exposed ceilings showcasing galvanised steel duct work, AC units, LED lighting within acoustic rafts, exposed original concrete roof slabs, corrugated steel roof and structural steelwork.

The new contact centre creates an acoustic environment within an open plan office with the use of screens and acoustic furniture products like quiet meeting pods which are flexible and can be easily repositioned.

The office layout is also Disability Discrimination Act compliant with height adjustable desks, wide walkways, automatic doors, disabled toilets, lift, etc.
